FAQ

Where are you based?

Balanced Acupuncture is based in the two beautiful towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Lechlade-on-Thames in the Cotswolds. I now also offer mobile acupuncture. Our cosy treatment rooms are located in ZinK Clinic (Stow-on-the-Wold) and the Health Box Shop (Lechlade-on-Thames), the perfect place to relax. If you’re coming to Stow-on-the-Wold to see me there is free parking on the road and a pay car park down the Maugersbury Road. We do have a space behind the building but it is a very tricky entrance/exit and I don’t recommend it unless you have a small car. If you’re seeing me at Lechlade you can find free parking for two hours right outside in the car park.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment here to visit my clinic in Lechlade-on-Thames.

For appointments in Stow-on-the-Wold or mobile acupuncture services, use my contact form here.

How many sessions will I need?

I recommend coming for 4-6 sessions and regular, monthly treatments to follow. You will immediately feel lighter, happier, and relaxed. However, as acupuncture works by stimulating the natural healing processes in the body and balancing Qi (energy), it can take a few sessions to build the body’s defences and address issues.

I offer 10% off when 6 sessions are booked.

What conditions can acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture is known to effectively treat a wide range of conditions, including hormone problems (e.g. PMS, endometriosis, heavy and painful periods), stress, anxiety, depression, infertility, insomnia, digestive issues, allergies, the immune system and migraines. In facial enhancement acupuncture, we treat skin concerns, for example, wrinkles, sagging skin, lack of glow and plumpness, acne, crow’s feet, jowls, and more. You will feel vibrant and overall wellness is improved!

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture works by stimulating meridians (energy pathways) using tiny needles. Illness results from disruptions and imbalances in the energy flow of the body. Five-element acupuncture is particularly concerned about the influence of nature and the elements within the body (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water) as each is associated with particular emotions, organs and meridians and relieves blockages present. Acupuncture looks at the individual as a whole as emotional and physical ailments are treated, we aim to encourage the body to heal itself naturally and so to maintain optimal health.

Do needles hurt?

Many people put off wonderful treatments due to their fear of needles. The needles used are extremely small and thin, the most you would feel is slight discomfort. The majority of individuals find the process deeply calming and even fall asleep so there is no need to worry.

What should I wear to my appointment?

I suggest wearing comfy clothes. During your treatment, I need access to many body parts such as arms, legs, torso, and back. This applies to facial acupuncture too.
